Clinical Evaluation of a Single-Dose Oral Fluconazole for the Treatment of the Vulvovaginal Candidiasis

Abstract
|

|
Fluconazole, a new anti-fungal compound had been tested to. evaluate efficacy and safety. Thirty patients with symptomatic and mycologically verified candidiasis were given a sing dose of 150 mg fluconazole.
Clinical cure was obtained in 93.3% (short-term) and 90% (long-term). Mycological cure was achieved in 93.3% (short-term) and 83.3%
(long-term). Treatment-related side-effects and toxicity were few and minor.
It is concluded that treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis with fluconazole, as a single oral dose of 150 mg, was effective and safe.
